Kidulthood by Esta Dixon
Main Plot:
The film is about two days in the life of a group of fifteen-year old teenagers from a rough area of London. Main themes include violence, sex, gangster lifestyle, pregenancy, and drug use. Lots of the themes are very true to modern teenage lives. the film is very "street", and depicts the life of working-class teens. the film begins in a school playground, at the end of lunch, and within the opening scenes we are shown all of the main themes. we therefore know exactly what to expect from the film. The next day, all the students we have been initially shown have a day of school due to the suicide of one of their peers. They use this day to steal, get high, shop, party have sex, etc - they act in a very deviant manner. The film ends with a boy being killed.

Key charechters:  Include a group of three boys, Trife, Jay, and Moony. Jay is a lad, not afraid of anything, and likes to argue. Moony is quite shy when it comes to fighting, but wants to always say his piece and keep his reputations. He is the opposite to the stereotype 'Black guy so he must be dangerous'. Trife is the leader of their little group, and keeps himself to himself quite a lot.

Trife's Ex, Alisa is only 15 and pregenant. in the film she finds herself being drawn to drugs, alcohol and violence against herself when she is in a mood that she doesn't want a baby, but finds herself looking at childrens clothes when she is in the mood to keep it.

Her 'bestfriend' Becky has dodgey connections - she asks her sleazy friendfor some free canabis cocaine and ecstacy, which she pays for with sex. She goes on to have sex with an older man for money, and is shown through out the film to be a selfish, slutty girl.

Katie had been bullied to take her own life after being attacked in school and being forced to do their coursework. An older boy Sam has also been hassling Katie, and after she leaves a suicide note saying he was hassling her, katie's big brother comes after sam later. Sam often fights and bullies the younger characters, He is overall a horrible charechter, who ends up killing Trife in the end.
